The Virtual School supports children through an innovative and aspirational enrichment programme created with local partners called “Give it a go.” Our aim is to engage, build relationships, boost aspiration, build cultural capital, develop a lifelong love of learning, and change the narrative around care to one of achievement and success.

The Virtual School supports carers, designated teachers and social workers by offering training and events throughout the year. Our aim is to engage and support you, build skills, boost confidence, and build an understanding of the professional networks in place to further support your work.

We are excited to inform you about an upcoming enrichment session at Stepney Green City Farm for our young people. This will be a fantastic opportunity for them to engage with nature, learn about farming, and participate in interactive activities. Session Details: Date: 29th October 2024 Time: 10:30am to 2:30pm Location: Stepney Green City Farm, Stepney Way, London E1 3DG Drop-Off and Pick-Up Location: Stepney Green City Farm During the session, the young people will have the opportunity to explore the farm, interact with animals, and participate in hands-on activities related to sustainability and the environment. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor activities, including suitable footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. We also recommend sending them with a packed lunch and water bottle. What is EBSA training? A comprehensive CPD course on Emotional Based School Avoidance, which develops our understanding and skills to support children and young people experiencing difficulties attending school. Coping – help your child learn about anxiety and coping strategies, normalise anxiety and share that we all have fears, model how to manage these, teach your child that some level of anxiety is helpful as it can motivate us, and encourage your child to engage in activity, exercise and relaxation. We are delighted to invite you to the Tower Hamlets Virtual School Awards Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic year. This special event will celebrate the achievements of our Virtual School students and this will take place at: Venue: BT Head Office, 1 Braham Street, London E1 8EP Date: Friday 14th February 2025 Arrival Time: 5:30 PM for a brief dress rehearsal Start Time: 6:00 PM prompt The venue is a 5-minute walk from Aldgate East tube station. Please confirm your attendance as it is essential for security purposes at the venue and to ensure that your child receives their prize pack and certificate. During the event, an order of ceremony will be provided, which details the award(s) your child has won. We kindly request that you assist your child in going up to the stage at the appropriate time to keep the event running smoothly. We are thrilled to announce that this year’s guest speaker will be TV presenter Ashley John-Baptiste. Please note that the Awards Ceremony is a formal occasion. We encourage students to wear suitable attire, such as no trainers or jeans. Due to the limited capacity of the venue, each award recipient is allowed to bring up to two guests, such as a carer and a designated social worker.
